5 years ago, Alpine introduced ‘Restyle’, a dedicated way to enhance your in-vehicle experience with premium vehicle-specific displays ranging from 6″ to 9″ in size. Restyle was a great solution for customers who wanted to upgrade the their factory radio with a larger, more advanced display. The down-side to Restyle was that the vehicle-specific production meant only select vehicles were compatible to these products, leaving the rest of the market with little to no upgrades available.
At CES 2018, Alpine introduced a revolutionary new product, the iLX-F309, or HALO9 for short. The Halo 9 is a floating 9″ display that can be integrated into any car with a single-din slot. This is Alpines first attempt, and probably the first in the aftermarket industry, to integrate a fixed-unit where the display isn’t mounted into the vehicles dash.
Behind the 9″ display is a standard 1-din chassis that requires installation prior to mounting the display. Once installed, the screen and mount are fixed to the chassis for a sturdy installation. The screen hovers over or in front of the dash while its rear housing tapers off cleanly at the edges for a thin and modern silhouette.
The floating design of the iLX-F309 allows for easy adjustments for optimized visibility while driving. By default, it sites at a 90-degree angle with it’s bottom aligned with the base, it can however be tilted forward or back, up or down.
The iLX-F309 has a suite of entertainment features. Built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto takes the things you want to do with your Smartphone while driving and puts them right there on your Alpine’s display. Maps, music, messages and phone calls from the iPhone or Android phone are controlled from and displayed on the iLX-F309’s touch screen. The iLX-F309 also has built-in Bluetooth with audio streaming capabilities, a built-in HD Radio tuner, USB inputs, HDMI inputs, AUX inputs, and is SiriusXM Ready.
Alpine continues to be the only major aftermarket manufacturer to offer complete systems that are larger than the standard 6.1 or 7-inch screens. This has been taken to a whole new level with the introduction of the iLX-F309 Halo 9. While car manufacturers find ways to stop the aftermarket industry, Alpine always prevails with solutions to upgrade a wide array of vehicles with it’s modern and powerful displays.
